The Western Dressage Association of Florida High Point Competition is on!

The Western Dressage Association of Florida is offering 2024 High Point Awards for the highest scoring Open, Amateur and Youth (under 18) Rider/Horse combination and High Points for all levels as well. The High Point Award program is open to all Western Dressage Association of Florida members in good standing.

Here’s what you do: Ride at qualifying Western Dressage shows in the State of Florida, save your written test from the judge, and send us a copy of the face sheet of the test with the score, the date and location of the ride, and the judge’s signature within 30 days of the show. Your percentage score will be used as your point score for that ride (for example, a 65.5% = 65.5 points).

High Point Rules:

  • Open to all participants who are Western Dressage Association of America (WDAA) and Western Dressage Association of Florida (WDAFL) members.
  • One horse/one rider/level
  • Participants may enter only one division per horse/rider team.
  • Entry Fee: $25 Adult; $20 Youth (per level)
  • Divisions:  Open, Amateur, Youth (under 18). Overall High Point will be awarded in each division and individual level High Points in each division.
  • Levels: Introductory, Basic, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Level 4 and Level 5; no freestyle or specialty classes, such as Western Dressage Equitation, Western Dressage Suitability.
  • Must submit a minimum of six tests from at least three different WDAFL qualified shows* under three different judges (per level).
    *Three different WDAFL qualified shows shall mean three different weekend shows
  • One test must be test 4 of the level in which you are competing. 
  • The average score will be used to calculate High Point.
  • A horse and rider team may only win High Point Champion a maximum of two times at any single level.
  • Rider submits the High Point registration form on this website along with their fee.
  • Rider subsequently submits copy of test sheet(s) containing the name and date of the show, the judge’s signature and percentage score to highpoint@wdafl.org subject “High Points”. (*NOTE: Test sheet must be received legible & have the horse/riders name; Scan, email or snail mail, no cell phone photos please; If received w/o required information or not legible, test may be discarded)
  • Scores may be verified with show management before qualifying for high point submission.
  • In case of a tie, the horse/rider with the highest single score is the winner; if the highest scores are the same, the next highest scores will be considered until the tie is broken.
  • Individual Level High Points will be calculated in the same manner as Overall High Point.  Points are accumulated for each level in which horse/rider entered.
  • Total points will be posted on the Western Dressage Association of Florida web site.
  • Awards will be presented at the Annual Western Dressage Association of Florida meeting.
  • High Point year will be December 1, 2023 through November 30, 2024.

Criteria for WDAFL Qualifying Shows

All USDF GMO’s schooling shows are automatically qualified.
All other shows must meet the following to be qualified: Judge must be a USDF “L” or higher. Arena must be a regulation 20 x 40 meters or 20 x 60 meters.
