About Kristin Malicott
Kristin has been passionate about horses since she first climbed into the saddle at the age of four. She firmly believes the “horse bug” is either in your blood or it’s not—and for her, it has shaped her entire life. Kristin’s current heart horse, Kira, registered as “Sheez Got Legs,” holds a special place in her journey. Adopted as a yearling in 2014 from a local nurse mare foal rescue, Kira has been Kristin’s steadfast partner through a decade of highs and lows. Together, they’ve overcome challenges, including a major injury Kristin suffered in 2019 that shook her confidence. Through it all, Kira never let her down, inspiring Kristin to return to her Western saddle. In the summer of 2022, Kristin and Kira embarked on their Western Dressage journey, setting and surpassing goals Kristin once thought unattainable. This winter, they will attend their first WDAFL State Show, with an ambitious goal of competing at the World Show in 2025.
For Kristin, Western Dressage has been a transformative experience. She’s found not only personal growth but also a welcoming and supportive community of riders who are always ready to lend a helping hand, offer advice, and cheer each other on. Inspired by this positive environment, Kristin has taken an active role in the sport, assisting a local schooling show in becoming WDAA-recognized for the 2024–2025 season.
Kristin is a proud member of USEF, the Western Dressage Association of America (WDAA), and the Western Dressage Association of Florida (WDAFL). She wholeheartedly encourages others to explore Western Dressage, believing it offers unparalleled opportunities to strengthen the partnership between horse and rider.
