WDAFL Is Excited To Announce The Launch Its New High Point And Virtual High Point Award Programs For Exceptional Riders

Exceptional Rider High Point Rules:

  • Open to all participants who are Western Dressage Association of America (WDAA) and Western Dressage Association of Florida (WDAFL) members.
  • Rider may ride on more than one horse.
  • Participants may enter only one division.
  • Entry Fee: $25 Adult; $20 Youth (per level)
  • Divisions:  Open, Amateur, Youth (under 18). Overall High Point will be awarded in each division and individual level High Points in each division.
  • Levels: Leadline Walk, Leadline W/J, Coached Walk, Coached W/J; no freestyle or specialty classes, such as Western Dressage Equitation, Western Dressage Suitability.
  • Must submit a minimum of two tests from at least two different WDAFL qualified shows* under two different judges (per level).
    *Two different WDAFL qualified shows shall mean two different weekend shows
  • The average score will be used to calculate High Point.
  • Rider submits the Exceptional Rider High Point registration form on this website along with their fee.
  • Rider subsequently submits copy of test sheet(s) containing the name and date of the show, the judge’s signature and percentage score to highpoint@wdafl.org subject “High Points”. (*NOTE: Test sheet must be received legible & have the horse/riders name; Scan, email or snail mail, no cell phone photos please; If received w/o required information or not legible, test may be discarded)
  • Scores may be verified with show management before qualifying for high point submission.
  • In case of a tie, the rider with the highest single score is the winner; if the highest scores are the same, the next highest scores will be considered until the tie is broken.
  • Individual Level High Points will be calculated in the same manner as Overall High Point.  Points are accumulated for each level in which horse/rider entered.
  • Total points will be posted on the Western Dressage Association of Florida web site.
  • Awards will be presented at the Annual Western Dressage Association of Florida meeting.
  • High Point year will be December 1, 2022 through November 30, 2023.

Exceptional Rider Virtual/Online High Point Rules:

  • Open to all participants who are Western Dressage Association of America (WDAA) and Western Dressage Association of Florida (WDAFL) members.
  • Participants may enter only one division per horse/rider team.
  • Rider may only enter two consecutive levels per year.
  • Entry Fee: $30 (per level)
  • Divisions:  Open, Amateur, Youth (under 18). Overall High Point will be awarded in each division and individual level High Points in each division.
  • Levels: Leadline Walk, Leadline W/J, Coached Walk, Coached W/J; no freestyle or specialty classes, such as Western Dressage Equitation, Western Dressage Suitability.
  • Must submit a minimum of six tests from at least three different online/virtual WDAA approved shows under three different WDAA approved judges (per level).
    *Three different WDAFL qualified shows shall mean three different weekend shows
  • The average score will be used to calculate High Point.
  • Rider submits an online application available on www.wdafl.org with their fee.
  • Rider subsequently submits a copy of test sheet(s) containing the name and date of the show, the name of the rider and horse, the judge’s printed name and signature and percentage score to highpoint@wdafl.org subject “High Points”. (*NOTE: Test sheet must be received legible; Scan, email or snail mail, no cell phone photos please; If received without the required information or not legible, test may be discarded)
  • Scores may be verified with show management before qualifying for high point submission.

Criteria for WDAFL Qualifying Shows

All USDF GMO’s schooling shows are automatically qualified.
All other shows must meet the following to be qualified: Judge must be a USDF “L” or higher or WDAA “r” “R”. Arena must be a regulation 20 x 40 meters or 20 x 60 meters.
