We sure hope everyone had a good time at the WDAFL Annual Fall Festival Show, despite the challenging weather!  Now that we have all decompressed from the weekend for a couple of days, it is time to get down to business.

The business at hand is the need to replace 4 of our board members.  At the end of this year, Marjie Wenger and Wendy Jeffries will be expiring from their 3 year terms.  Susan Butler has served 2 years of her second term and has decided to resign at the end of the year, and Lisa Gannon has resigned at the end of this year after serving 2 years of her term.

Serving on the Board is a 3 year commitment.  Each year, board members expire, which allows for new people and ideas to join the team.  Once elected to the board, the board itself determines which board members will serve in the executive positions of President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary.  This happens each year at the board’s annual organizational meeting which happens in late December/early January.  The new board is introduced at the annual meeting of the membership.

A few years back, we introduced a new quasi member of the board.  The Youth Ambassador member is a teen WDAFL member that serves for just one year to bring the board ideas that focus on the youth of our association.  The Youth Ambassador is a non-voting board position and meets with the board at all meetings.  This position is a great way for our older youth to volunteer to support our association.

So, we need nominations for 4 new board members and a teen Youth Ambassador.  Nominating is easy, and yes, you can nominate yourself!  To nominate someone, just send a few paragraphs on what you feel that person, or yourself, could bring to the board and why they/you would like to serve.

Send your nominations to info@wdafl.org

Nominations will be open from this date through November 30.  We will introduce the list of nominees after that time and a voting period will be established.
