Thank you WDAFL for my grant money! This has been a real blessing to me. My horse that I used to ride, named Jet, foundered back in October 2020. We aren’t sure if I will ever be able to ride him again. I’ve spent many long days and hours taking care of him. My parents have been a huge support for me. When I saw the grant, I wanted to do something on my own because my parents have paid for so much.

In December 2020 my parents bought me my first horse. His name is Lewie. He’s 6 years old. They bought him for me so I can continue to show and improve as a rider. Lewie likes to share his opinion when he doesn’t want to work. He is lazy and has two speeds; slow and slower.

The clinic that my grant money paid for helped me with my leg yields. Lewie trails his hind in the leg yield. Ms. Charlotte, my clinician, also taught me that I need to push Lewie so that he is the one working harder, not me.

This year Lewie and I will compete in the WDAA Online International Challenge. Last year I competed in the WDAA Online World Show and won 1st place in two of my classes. This year I hope to do well! Thank you again for this opportunity to better myself as a rider!

Sincerely,
Hannah Walters
